Håkan Nesser is one of Sweden's most widely read and respected writers. His debut came in 1988 with the novel “Koreografen”. Nesser's breakthrough came in 1993 with the crime novel "The Mind's Eye". It is within the crime genre that Nesser has had his greatest success. His most famous novels about crime detective Van Veeteren have been translated into several languages and have also been been filmed into several movies starring the swedish actor Sven Wolter as the lead.
Håkan Nesser was born and raised in Kumla, in south central Sweden. In several of his books a town called "K" is described. A lot of the nature and the environment from his hometown Kumla is borrowed and applied to the town “K”.
