Hanna's Daughters
A story about three generations of women, starting from the grandmother, born in the 1860s to the granddaughter and her life in the 1990s.
The novel describes the development of Swedish society, how living conditions change, women's rights increase and how this affects family life. The reader gets a perspective of how the poor life in the countryside develops into modern-day society. Urbanization and industrialization as well as the women’s movement and the new gender roles are explored in this book, where Fredriksson illustrates both the historical changes and everything that remains from our ancestor’s time.
