Tomas Transtromer (born in 1931) is one of Sweden's and the world's most beloved poets. He made his debut in 1954 with "17 Poems" and has since then published twenty collections of poetry, among others "Secrets on the Way" (1958), " The Half-Finished Heaven" (1962), "Bells and Tracks" (1966) and "The Sorrow Gondola" (1996).
Tomas Tranströmer studied literature at Stockholm University where he earned his Bachelor in 1956. He is also a licensed psychologist.
In 2011 Tomas Tranströmer was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, with the motivation "because, through his condensed, translucent images, he gives us fresh access to reality".
